Our mission in Denver at present is an extension of the ministries out of our Monastery: Our Benedictine Spiritual Formation Program, an Oblate mentoring program, supervision groups and Counseling at Maria Drost Counseling Center. Living and working out of our community house we continue the Benedictine Spirit of Hospitality for our Sisters who come to Denver for events or who need transportation to and from DIA.
Historically, Benedictine Sisters, first from Atchison, KS and then from Benet Hill Monastery, have been ministering and working in Denver, CO since 1937 when seven sisters began teaching at St Cajetan School – an inner city school in Denver. Over the years, many, many of our Sisters (over time 25 -30) have ministered at a number of places and in various jobs/Ministries: teachers (4 different schools), nurses, chaplains, Archdiocese staff members, parish pastoral Associates, and also as students at Regis College, Iliff School of Theology and Denver University. Our Benet Hill community has been graced with working with Archbishop Sam Aquila first at St Mary’s in Colorado Springs and then in two parishes here in Denver.
Today, we have two Sisters working in the Denver Area to maintain the Denver Site for our BSFP program and also Counseling at Maria Drost counseling center as well as being hospitality personnel at our Community House in Denver.
