January, 2008 Dear Families and Friends,
Thank you for being an important piece in the fabric of our Benedictine lives. We treasure your care and relationship with us over these past 43 years. We have been blessed by your presence and participation with us in worship; we are grateful for your presence in our ministries of education, spirituality, pastoral care, missionary work, direct services and peace making. You have become an integral part of our charism, “seeking God in the daily celebration of life.” |

As we continue to grow in relationship with you, we are inviting you to Create a Benedictine Future with Us. Our church and culture have changed over the years, as have religious communities; however, the core of our monastic charism remains the same: community, prayer and life-giving service. Smaller in number, yet fervent of heart; older in age, yet still on fire with the Gospel, we continue to choose to minister out of our scarcity.
Through our prayer and work we strive to live out our vision “to be radical signs of God’s love and compassion” in a world filled with strife, chaos and division. Our mission, responding to humanity’s hunger for peace, harmony and reconciliation, is “to be able to provide the sacred space of hospitality.”
In order to create this space we, as community, have made the decision to sell our existing monastic property in Colorado Springs and to build a new smaller Benedictine Monastery/Ministry Center on the property of our Benet Pines Retreat Center. We choose to live simply and sustainably, journeying together, embracing a contemporary Benedictine presence and sharing our monastic heritage of discernment, simplicity, hospitality and peace.
We ask that you prayerfully consider your response to our Capital Campaign to Create a Benedictine Future with Us.
We hold you in our hearts and in our prayer,
Sister Anne Stedman, OSB
Prioress, Benet Hill Monastery
